Two-days-long training held for Safety Committee members at TIED

As part of efforts towards compliance, a two-days-long training for Safety Committee members on Operational Knowledge and Skills to increase the knowledge and build the capacity of safety committees as per Bangladesh Labour Act 2006 and Bangladesh Labour Rules 2015, was held at Dhaka Tannery Industrial Estate Wastage Treatment Plant Company Limited (DTIEWTPCL) conference room, Hemayetpur, Savar, Dhaka on June 18-19, 2022. Coordinated by Bangladesh Tanners Association (BTa), all 24 members of safety committees, including a female member of 4 tanneries have participated in the training organized by Bangladesh Labour Foundation supported by The Asia Foundation. A. M. Sajjad Hossain Khan, Senior Program Officer, The Asia Foundation, and Rehana Akter Ruma, Head of project and programs, Bangladesh Tanners Association attended the training as guests. Md. Mehedi Hasan, Deputy Inspector General (Health) of Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishment (DIFE), and Mir Md. Shahenul Islam, Senior Operation Engineer, DTIEWTPCL were the guest facilitators. At the end of training, participating factories developed their action plans and visited CETP.
