The Asia Foundation in conjunction with Bangladesh Tanners Association (BTA) has organized a learning visit for a pool of mid-level managers, compliance officers, supervisor/s of BTA’s member factories and leaders of Tannery Workers Union to an LWG-certified silver rated tannery: RIFF Leather Limited in Chattogram on May 23, 2023. GIZ Bangladesh and Bangladesh Labour Foundation – BLF representatives were also part of the visiting team. The experience of the visit, particularly how RIFF Leather Limited has been continually maintaining and improving its management system and best practices in terms of Environmental, Social, and Quality (ESQ) compliances in alignment with LWG standards and parameters, will help factory management of tanneries in Tannery Industrial Estate, Hemayetpur, Savar to devise and implement strategies to improve the management system, working conditions, ESQ compliances, productivity, and sustainability.
